Your right.  I found a pollen pellet.  It was gritty and tasted initially slightly minty, followed by unflavored.  Very pale white (skim milk as my kids would say).  I'm seeing it everywhere, Bend, Redmond, Tumalo and Powell Butte.  The three items I can see any life on a t all are Willow trees, willow bushes (water side) and birch trees.  Looking closely, though I haven't found any with any blooms.  Have to keep looking.

I would think that propolis would bee darker? But don't know. Might depend on the source.  Could also be willow.

It's too late now, but we should have a first pollen sighting contest in central Oregon next year.  Or, how about a first capped queen cell contest this year?

I'm seeing the same thing.  Not a lot but 1 out of 10 or 15.  I don't see anything blooming.  We do have some aspens and cottonwoods nearby.  I'm wondering if it might be propolis instead of pollen?

February 9, hives are bringing in pale yellow pollen in N E Bend. Has anyone seen bees picking up pollen from any plants?
