Your right. I found a pollen pellet. It was gritty and tasted initially slightly minty, followed by unflavored. Very pale white (skim milk as my kids would say). I'm seeing it everywhere, Bend, Redmond, Tumalo and Powell Butte. The three items I can see any life on a t all are Willow trees, willow bushes (water side) and birch trees. Looking closely, though I haven't found any with any blooms. Have to keep looking.
