It is messy, a little scary, and kills some larvae . . . but you can cut the "edges" off each frame with a rotary tool or the "vibrating" multi tool they sell at the big box stores. Then put the leftover "corners" in the back of the hive to let the remaining larvae hatch and the resources be utilized.
We have done this twice sucessfully. Check youtube, there are several videos, along with instructions regarding what to do with the queen etc.
As long as your hive is fairly warm, the "corners" will survive . . . as the nurse bees can't maintain a solid "nest."
