This time a combination of demonstrations at the apiary and indoor seminar on the topic "Varroa Mite Treatment Options for Your Hive".


Let's beat the heat and start early.
8:45 am     Sign-in
9:00 am     At the apiary: First we harvest honey. Then we medicate colonies for mites. See how the different registered miticides look and how they are applied.
10:15         Coffee and water break
10:30ish    Seminar: Treatment options - application details, pros and cons

Participants in the Oregon Master Beekeeper Program can earn Education or Service Points.

Saturday in the Apiary, usually on second Saturdays (based on weather and Heike's schedule) is a casual, loosely structured event intended to provide a learning experience in a relaxed setting. We perform hive inspections, discuss colony management strategies for the month, and implement them.  Everyone who is comfortable being around live honey bees is welcome. You will need to bring your own gear (veil/gloves). Limited amount of veils available upon request. This is a free event.
