Saturday in the Apiary
September 14, 2024, from 10 am to 12 pm

Location: 850 NW Dogwood Ln, Madras, OR 97741

Are you curious to learn how many mites dropped from the various treatments we applied at the August workshop and from subsequent applications? Were the different types of treatments successful? We will assess the strength and health of the colonies, perform after-treatment sugar rolls and determine which colonies need feed.

Participants in the Oregon Master Beekeeper Program can earn 'In the Bees' (Getting-Started) or Education (apprentices) points. Are a Journey and like to help? Let Heike know ahead of time and earn Service Points.

RSVP is required and space is limited, so register early by clicking HERE .

Saturday in the Apiary, usually on second Saturdays (based on weather and Heike's schedule) is a casual, loosely structured event intended to provide a learning experience in a relaxed setting. We perform hive inspections, discuss colony management strategies for the month, and implement them.  Everyone who is comfortable being around live honey bees is welcome. You will need to bring your own gear (veil/gloves). Limited amount of veils available upon request. This is a free event.

Save the date: Next SitA Oct 12 (1 to 3 pm) weather permitting.
