I have been able to purchase a Saskatraz queen from Brushy Mt & will be able to install her next week.  Hopefully in time to utilize all these winter bees before they move on their happy hunting ground!

Thanks to all of you for your suggestions and support!

If you can't raise your own queen you might contact Matt Allen at Apricot Apiaries in Kimberly.

Carol, I was helping yesterday with moving colonies from Langstroths into  Valkyries and also found a queenless colony. We checked another colony for worker and drone brood and also found a couple of drones walking a frame face. The decision was to take a frame of brood with its nurse bees for the queenless colony. Vivien was with me, so I had her notch for a queen in three locations. The beekeeper will check the notched frame in four days for queen progress. Another beekeeper in the area has plenty of drone brood and emerged drones meaning there should be a DCA available for this virgin queen.

I was able to get into my hive today (with my mentor).  No queen.  Anyone have a queen?
