September is critical to find out if our winter preparations we started in July are working out. We will repeat sugar rolls to find out if Varroa mite treatments were sufficient or are necessary now for those colonies, which were not treated yet. We requeened two colonies in August: were the queens accepted? Feeding: necessary or is there a nectar flow from rabbit brush?

“Saturday in the Apiary” is a casual, loosely structured event intended to provide a learning experience in a relaxed setting. We perform hive inspections, discuss colony management strategies for the month, and implement them. Everyone who is comfortable being around live honey bees is welcome. You do not need to be a participant in the OMB Program to attend. You would need to bring your own gear. This is a free event.
Save the date: Next Saturday in the Apiary October 14, 2017 – 10 am to 12 pm in Madras
