Swarm control will be the word of the day at this hands-on workshop. Is a colony getting ready to swarm? What do we do if it does, or if it swarmed already? Stocking a nuc or a new hive will be on the agenda as well as marking queens (well, drones…): let’s practice on drones how to mark queens.
Apprentices in the Oregon Master Beekeeping Program can earn education points. RSVP required. Please email Heike Williams at heike.williams@oregonstate.edu for details and notification of possible changes. This event is weather dependent. Remember to bring your hat/veil/gloves. Looking forward to seeing you!

“Saturday in the Apiary” is a casual, loosely structured event intended to provide a learning experience in a relaxed setting. We perform hive inspections, discuss colony management strategies for the month, and implement them. Everyone who is comfortable being around live honey bees is welcome. You would need to bring your own gear. This is a free event.
