COBKA May Meeting

Topic: Tropilaelaps – A Looming Mite Threat
Featuring: A recorded talk by Dr. Sam Ramsey, followed by live discussion

This month, we'll turn our attention to one of the most dangerous and least understood threats to honey bee health: the Tropilaelaps mite. These invasive mites, while not yet in North America, pose a serious risk to colonies worldwide—and Dr. Sam Ramsey is one of the foremost voices sounding the alarm.

We’ll view Dr. Ramsey’s highly informative presentation on Tropilaelaps biology, behavior, and the urgent need for global awareness, followed by an open Q&A and discussion on what this could mean for beekeeping in Oregon and beyond.

The meeting will begin at 6:00 PM, with a Beginner’s Corner session starting at 5:00 PM. Membership is not required to attend our meetings, all are welcome!

Location: 16 NW Kansas Ave, Bend, OR 97703

If you’d like to join via Zoom, please use the link below. Note that you will need to be signed in as a COBKA member. The Beginner’s Corner portion of the meeting is not typically streamed.
