Location: 850 NW Dogwood Ln, Madras, OR 97741

The sun returns and so does “Saturday in the Apiary”! Please join us for a fun afternoon opening hives. We will check bee colonies for their strength, the queen, and feed - starvation being the biggest concern this time of year.  See for yourself how all stages of "brood" look like and how a strong colonies can help to boost a little one.

Participants in the Oregon Master Beekeeper Program can earn 'In the Bees' (Getting-Started) or Education (Apprentice) points. Are a Journey and like to to help? Let Heike know ahead of time and earn Service Points.

RSVP is required and space is limited, so register early by clicking HERE .

Saturday in the Apiary is a casual, loosely structured event intended to provide a learning experience in a relaxed setting. We perform hive inspections, discuss colony management strategies for the month, and implement them.  Everyone who is comfortable being around live honey bees is welcome. You will need to bring your own gear (veil/gloves). Limited amount of veils available upon request. This is a free event.

SitA (Saturday in the Apiary) dates in 2025: May 10, June 14, July 12, August 9, September 13, October 11, December TBA. Times will vary. Dates subject to change.
