I’m with Dennis. Seems to be pretty normal to me, after about 500 hives.
My overall experience over the last several years I’ve s that yards with decent nectar/pollen have lower losses than hives in a dearth. Likewise, good queens seem to come through just fine, but subpar Queens get knocked off once in a while. I just try to have Queens on hand when making checkbacks. The risk is worthwhile. Maqs does a great job killing mites.
Ron, for clarification, is that 4, ten frame deep hive bodies, where was the MAQS placed, what was the dosage you used, was it MAQS or Formic Pro? I haven't had any troubles like that and have treated a few hives with Formic Pro this spring and summer. In past years I have used MAQS successfully also.

Has anyone experienced greater loses than usual when using MAQS this year? I have and so has another friend of mine. This was with large, four box hives that were well ventilated and temps never exceeded 80 degrees. Bottom board pretty much covered with dead bees. Any thoughts on this would be appreciated.
